ANDREW E. KOLB received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University's business school before earning his Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law . Illinois Institute of Technology in 1999. He was on the School's Dean's List in 1998. While in law school, Mr. Kolb was awarded membership in the Giles Rich Moot Court Honors Society and served as the research assistant to Dean Harry H. Perritt, Jr. (Publication: Wiley Employment Law Update (1998)).
Prior to joining Bazos, Freeman, Kramer, Schuster, Vanek & Kolb, Mr. Kolb spent four years at a Chicago-based transactional and litigation firm representing large Multi-national corporations, including railroads, transportation companies, hotel chains, retailers and steel manufacturers. During his tenure as a litigator, Mr. Kolb argued numerous cases before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, including Trial Bar (1999 - 2007), Northern District of Indiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit (Published Trial Opinion: Friedman v. Safe Security Services, Inc., 328 Ill.App. 3d 37, 765 N.E.2d 104, 262 Ill.Dec. 278 (1st Dist. 2002)).
Since joining the firm in 2003, Mr. Kolb has had the opportunity to utilize his finance and accounting background by focusing exclusively on corporate, transactional, commercial real estate, zoning and development work. Mr. Kolb also routinely handles business formations and the purchase and sale of stock, equity and assets. Mr. Kolb has extensive experience drafting agreements pertaining to the purchase and development of commercial real estate, annexation, zoning and other land and business entitlements.
Mr. Kolb serves as a course instructor at the Small Business Development Center of Elgin Community College. He also serves as a pro-bono legal counsel to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia, Illinois and to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Kolb became a full partner in the firm in 2008.
